Influencer Spotlight: Dr Katherine

The fabulous Dr Katherine has previously had a complicated relationship with food and spent many years partaking in fad exercise and diet trends, which have resulted in long-term damage to her health. She has now achieved a happy balance, mostly due to her extensive education in body sciences. She seeks to impart the fundamental things she has learnt about the inseparable relationship between health, happiness and body confidence through her developed 'Forever Approach'.

We chatted to her about her favourite ways to stay healthy and the best ways to beat body image issues!

Tell us about yourself, what do you do?

I’m a body confidence expert.

Why is staying healthy so important to you?

So I have lots of energy for shoe shopping.

What does your ideal day consist of?

Helping people and a nap.

What does #livingthegreen mean to you?

Going for lots of walks with Eszie my dog.

Where is your favourite place to eat right now?

Grill’d burgers.

What is your secret indulgence food?

I don’t have secrets anymore, keeping secrets drove me nuts. Currently it’s rice crackers with copious amounts of cream cheese.

Where do you go to source fresh ingredients for your meals?

If I have time, to Morley Growers.

What is your go-to meal for a quick dinner?

Saute turkey mince with veggies and rice.

What is your favourite veggie/food right now?

Avocado – I’m obsessed. I sometimes eat up to 3 a day.

What are 5 essentials for your pantry?

Olive oil, balsamic vinegar, salt, golden flaxmeal and rice crackers.

How do you like to relax at the end of the day?

Going for a walk with Eszie.

Do you have a favourite organic or natural beauty product?

Zinc – amazing for skin and cuts.

What is your go to alternative therapy to nurture your body?

Facials – love them (microdermabrasion).

How do you keep focused at work?

I love what I do.

What are the key ingredients you use to nurture your body from the inside out?

Reduce stress and sleep as much as possible. Regardless of what you eat or how much exercise you do – if you’re stressed and tired, your body will go on strike.

Where is your favourite place to work out?

Anywhere outdoors.

What are your top tips for keeping fit and active?

Enjoy what you do – it’s the only way to be consistent.

What is your favourite way to sweat it out?

Bikram yoga.

What is the most intensive workout you have ever experienced?

Training with an Olympic athlete who was 6’5 – and I kept up with him.

How do you stay motivated?

I’ve created a life I love to live. It took me a long, long time to do it – so now I appreciate every second.

Have you ever struggled with your own body image?

Struggled is an understatement. I contemplated suicide because of negative body image.
