As the world is growing more health conscious; new cafes, restaurants and health food stores are opening in response to increasing demand for organic, ethically sourced and whole food that caters to all dietary needs. If you’re looking to branch out from your local healthy breakfast, lunch or dinner spots, here’s an inventory of new places you can try out:
Regular Coffee Company
This sleek new addition to Carine’s café scene do an excellent cup of coffee and specialty teas by Teassential. Serving all kinds of wholesome goodies like home-made protein bars with sunflower seeds, cacoa and peanut butter, or their chia, bircher and yoghurt breakfast cups, there are plenty of healthy options to choose from at The Regular Coffee Company.
Twig & Sparrow
This sleek new Willetton café serves fresh breakfast like smashed avo & pomegranate on toast and raspberry chia puddings. For lunch you’ll find unique wholesome food like Mexican bean patties topped with avocado, making the Twig & Sparrow the perfect new local for all the health-conscious café go-ers in the area.
For exciting modern Australian cuisine by chefs Charlie Vegas and Chris Malone, everything on your plate at New Normal is seasonal and sourced strictly from the South West. With a beautiful modern fit out including a rooftop and a communal dining hall, the most impressive part about this place is their dedication to reducing waste in every facet of the business.
We are awaiting the opening of Roho Bure with baited breath, as their dedicated vegan outlet for all ice-creams, shakes, slices and cakes is a big win for the plant-based eaters among us. Coco + Boho
From fresh juices to boost the immune system and things like crab cakes with a poached egg on the menu for breakfast, Coco + Boho do a huge range of healthy breakfast and lunch options to keep you sustained properly throughout the day.
If thyme butter mushrooms with sourdough doesn’t sound good to you, then Little H will find other ways to impress you, be it through their excellent coffee or healthy lamb pitas with pistachio, tzadziki, rocket and mint-pesto, yum!
Doric St Café
This beautiful new Scarborough café serves a house cured salmon bruschetta to die for and their signature Doric St granola is another winner with mango pannacotta and house baked granola, we’re so impressed with their innovative take on a healthy breakfast. For lunch, ditch your boring sandwich and head in for their Korean Bimbimbap, filled with veges, beef and a fried egg.
For fresh, modern Malaysian cuisine, Malaya is the perfect pit stop on Hay St for a healthy dinner. Serving simple food like Nasi Lemak with a fresh salad and even a Malaysian inspired brekky from 7am Monday to Friday, pop in to check it out.
