The Ultimate Healthy Guide to Leederville in 2018

Share

Leederville has long been known as one of Perth’s most popular cafe and restaurant hubs, but the inner-city trendy suburb has plenty to offer on the health scene. Check out some of these gems next time you’re in Leederville, or if you’re not local, it’s definitely worth exploring a healthy day out!

Limon Health & Beauty Spa

Located a little further down Oxford Street, towards Mount Hawthorn, is one of Perth’s most zen day spas. The team at Limon exclusively use toxin-free and cruelty-free products, with many treatments involving house-made, individualised formulations. Think gentle facials, invigorating body treatments and the most amazing massage you’ll have in Perth. The team also offers a bunch of beauty services, from sugaring and lash tints right the way through to nail work (with breathable polish!) and makeup application. Honestly, Limon is such a nice spot to be in, you don’t even need to have a treatment to feel rejuvenated! Added bonus – Limon has opened up a shop next door to the spa where they sell gorgeous, toxin-free and organic health and beauty products.

Botanix Health

Run by a holistic nutritionist, Botanix Health is a health food shop meets healthy lifestyle enabler. It’s always choc full of a variety of kitchen and pantry staples, skincare, make up and pretty well anything you’ve seen on sustainable living Instagram’s. Pop in for a browse before or after a coffee across the road at Pixel.

Lifestyle Boom Pilates Studio

If you’ve never tried reformer Pilates, brace your booty and get to a class at Lifestyle Boom! While it looks deceivingly relaxing, reformer Pilates is an awesome strengthening and toning workout, and the team at Lifestyle Boom know how to get your muscles going. With more than 40 classes a week, motivating instructors and fun music, you’ll enjoy a challenging workout leaving you feeling energised (and maybe a little sore #bunsofsteel).

Tom’s Wholesome Food

Opposite the newsagent halfway up the main drag (Oxford Street) is Tom’s Wholesome Food, an unassuming counter where healthy lunch dreams come true. Every day is a salad adventure at Tom’s, which stocks a number of freshly made salads where you can mix and match to fill a container. In winter, Tom’s also has daily soup, and all year round there are delicious sandwiches, quiches and more to get a bit more veg into your life. Grab a fresh salad from Tom’s and a smoothie from The Market Juicery, just a couple doors down, and your body will be seriously stoked with the goodness you’re about to put into it.

The Good Grocer (Leederville IGA)

One of the OG 24/7 IGA stores, Leederville’s Good Grocer always comes up with the goods if you’ve got a late night gourmet goodie craving. Even better is that the vegan section is always on point. Think fresh juices, raw treats and snacks, vegan cheese, ice cream and more. It’s super impressive for a supermarket and even non-vegans will get what the fuss is about when they taste one of the Chew No Moo pizzas (ok, so not 100% healthy but they ARE 100% vegan and local!). Perfect if you’re trying to find somewhere central that stocks left-of-centre, healthy foods that haven’t all made it to the big supermarkets.

F45 Leederville

If you prefer your workouts fast and sweaty, there’s a branch of the cult fitness experience, F45, in the very heart of Leederville. With cardio and resistance workouts based around HIIT (high intensity interval training) principles, F45 is an addictive workout style! With multiple sessions every day of the week, this is a motivating group training workout where you move through a circuit – and no two workouts are the same. Each session has various “work” and “rest” times, but all of them enable you to push yourself as hard as you want to. With knowledgeable coaches to take you through your workout (and help you if you get lost looking for your next station…it happens to the best of us), you might just find you’re part of the cult before long.

Cranked Café

Sitting at the freeway end of Oxford Street, Cranked is one of those places to take your not-so-health-conscious friends for breakfast because there are dishes to please almost everybody. Take your posse and enjoy one of the many nutritious and dead tasty dishes on offer, and pair it with a fresh juice or one of Cranked’s amazing almond mylk cappuccinos. Plus, if you’re a cyclist, there are always plenty of your people enjoying a fresh brew every morning of the week!

Pearth Organic Kitchen

A short walk across the pedestrian bridge over the Mitchell Freeway, you’ll wander into West Leederville. Once you emerge from the dreamy tree-lined streets onto Cambridge Street, you’ll find Pearth, a little café that is big on health. With house-made, mostly plant-based delicious breakfasts, lunches, snacks and raw treats, this is a health nut’s dream whether you’re vegan, vegetarian or all about whole foods. Grab something on the way to work for lunch, or pull up a chair to the high bar that looks over Cambridge Street and take your time. We dare you to leave without taking a treat for the road
