First up, briefly tell us a bit about yourself and what you do!
Where do i start! I’ve been a Qualified personal trainer for 11 years working in Perth, but also Sydney and Brisbane with some of Australia’s elite athletes. I’ve been a professional athlete myself and I currently manage an F45 studio here in Perth and love every minute of it. My other passion is my activewear brand Fearless Active Wear. It’s a project that is coming into it’s 3rd year of business and we are all about supporting and encouraging women of all shapes and sizes to embrace their bodies and live life to it’s fullest without judgement!
What’s your fitness routine & favourite way to get sweaty and where’s your go-to?
I have 2 favourite routines that get my heart rate up and the adrenaline pumping. First I can’t beat an F45 session with all the crew down at F45 Dianella. This style of HIIT training tests you the whole way from start to finish and has you screaming for more. My other favourite way to unwind and release any stress is to lace up, put the headphones in and run. I love hitting the amazing Perth coastline and clock up some kilometres. The feeling I get is freedom, its a different type of meditation for me and there’s no better way but to finish on a Perth sunset!
Your absolute favourite healthy cafe in Perth is?
I have a sweet tooth so I can’t go past the crew down at Acai Brothers City Beach. One of their bowls after a solid workout or even on a cruisy Sunday afternoon is too hard to turn down. From bowls to smoothies there’s so much to choose from. But I can’t go past the choc ‘treat your self’ bowl..yum!
Do you take any supplements, vitamins or special wellness elixirs? If so, we’d love to know!
I have a big smoothie in the morning before I start my day and I take a few supplements in it. First a greens powder by Vital Greens to get the extra nutrients I cant manage in my meals. Then I add Collagen powder to help with gut healing, but also skin health. And to top it off some L-Glutamine powder to help with gut repair because for me its an important area for my overall health. Blitz up and away we go!
What time do you wake up most days and how many hours of sleep do you aim for
I wake up most days at 4:30am for early classes at the studio, so sleep for me is so vital. I really try and aim for 7 – 8 hours to maintain my energy throughout the day, but running a business as well this can be a struggle. So I tend to either nap or meditate in the afternoon to help recharge and keep energy high. Also a very good magnesium supplement an hour before bed helps calm me down, so that I can get a restful sleep. My favourite magnesium supplement at the moment is Gabamag by Trilogy Nutritional supplements.
What are your top 3 wellness non-negotiables
1. Sleep is King!
Your body thrives off sleep, it rejuvenates and recovers during this time. The better we recover, the better we perform.
2. Nutrition & Hydration is a big second
Colours and more colours! Fill your plate with as many coloured fruit and vegetables as possible and good quality protein. Feed the machine. Also I try to consume at least 2- 3 litres a day being so active with my job and then my own training I tend to dehydrate pretty quickly, so for me to function through out the day I need to make sure I’m hydrated.
3. Self Reflection
I think its important to take the time to reflect on your day, week or month and make sure your on the right track with your health, career and lifestyle. Are you fueling your body and mind with the right things. If not how can you change this and get back on track.
